I would say something disparaging about it, but I know better than to blaspheme the aspidistra. ;)

We had lots of those sort of vague green plants in the office where I worked.

There's also Orwell's Keep the Aspidistra Flying where the aspidistra stands for inexorable respectability.

All my great aunts have them.

The worst thing about them is often the bowls -- you remember the cactus bowl in Busman's Honeymoon? Like that. Horrible things.
