my book karma is strong today
Jun. 18th, 2003 06:07 pmI had two things I needed to buy: Equus and the June issue of Locus. I found both, and along the way found used, each for $6 or less:
and, today's ultimate coup:
And this isn't even counting the things I found and put back on the shelf.
Lisel Mueller, Second Language: Poems
Peggy Shumaker, Underground Rivers: Poems
Phyllis Rose, Parallel Lives: Five Victorian Marriages
Nicholas Meyer, The West End Horror
M. R. James, Collected Ghost Stories (Okay, it's not Ash-Tree Press's A Pleasing Terror, but it's the second most complete collection; I have it in paperback, but the paperback has disintegrated to the point that it is nearly impossible to read, so having the hardback is tremendously pleasing.)
J. Sheridan LeFanu, Uncle Silas
and, today's ultimate coup:
Seneca's Tragedies: Oedipus, Troades, Agamemnon, edited by Eric C. Baade. What makes this so exciting is that it's the Tudor translations (Alexander Neville, Jasper Heywood, and John Studley, respectively). I didn't even know this book existed at 1:30 this afternoon, and now it is mine, all mine! *maniacal laugh*
And this isn't even counting the things I found and put back on the shelf.
