salvage: 1084 words

verdict: ooookay.

comments: I don't usually write out of order, but this scene (nasty, manipulative, but perfectly consensual sex, probably triggered partly by the discussion of Anne McCaffrey) knew exactly how it wanted to happen and in exactly which words, so I figured it would be stupid to stick to my principles and then forget how I'd meant it to go. Because that would be really annoying.

I'm tired of being hot and headachy all the time. Bleah. We're going to go see a movie this afternoon, which will be delightful for the airconditioning, regardless of what's happening on-screen.

I bet that was fun to write.

*shudder* I'm sure I wouldn't find it so.

You know, you're welcome at Casa CavLec those days you really can't stand the heat. It isn't always ACed, but we do keep it under 80. :)

I meant in a craft-sense. A scene like that would involve several layers and be nicely complex.

Be careful, or I will take you up on that.

I grew up with air-conditioning, and I've never really adjusted to these northern weirdos who think it isn't mandatory. There's enough ventilation in this apartment (unlike some other places I've lived) that I don't actually get heatsick, but christ it's been a miserable few days.

In a horrible slow-motion-train-wreck way, yes. :)

Oh, surely. I'm just not sure I could bring myself to do it, not yet anyway. Though I do not think I have any projects in mind that will need it in the near future.

I've found myself using two different approaches when writing something that disturbs me. Either I feel a weird, cold distance from what I'm creating, or I immerse in the way of thinking appropriate to the pov character. I'm not sure why sometimes one and sometimes the other. Hmmm. Now that I think on it, the distance one seems to go with second person, which I've used a couple of times; I guess the pov influences my way of writing.

Not that I write awful things all the time, of course.
