So where am I?

I may have gotten my Second Reader/scheduling problem sorted, but I won't know until I've heard back from all my committee members.

The conclusion is now two pages longer, thanks to HL pointing out some places where more could be said, and I think it's finished.

I've edited through to p. 14, since today I have the attention span of a highly caffeinated squirrel.

The plan for the evening is to sit with the dis and my pen and edit. Edit, edit, edit.

I think one reason I've been so resistant to the editing is that I'm terrified of finding some horrible, indefensible gap in my argument. I can't do anything about it at this late date, so if it's there, there's part of me that just doesn't want to know about it. I want to shut my eyes and hope that if I can't see it, it can't see me--not unlike the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal.

This, however, will only result in my committee handing me a live and ticking grenade at my orals. I've seen that movie; it never ends well.

*sigh* Excelsior.

I'm glad to hear that your committee problems may be on the road to 'solvered'--and that the conclusion's behaving itself. I can't even bear to think aboutwriting mine yet! Fortunately for me, I don't have to organise my own examiners. I'm not even allowed to know who they are unless they decide, after having maked the thesis, that they want me to know! My supervisor has to get all that sorted out instead...I can give her a list of names, of scholars who would be good potential examiners, but all I'm allowed to decide for myself is who I absolutely do not want to get their hands on the thing.

The plan for the evening is to sit with the dis and my pen and edit. Edit, edit, edit.

Good luck with that. I'm looking forward to the moment with absolute dread...

...You know, much though I wish for your sake that you weren't going through this sort of horrible insecurity about the thesis, it's so nice to know that it seems to be a universal thesis-submitting experience! It helps no end.

And I shall now forever picture the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal as a large pile of paper stacked in a loose-leaf binder. Thank you for that. ~g~

Well, it's a comfort to me to post things like this and have people reply saying, Yes! Exactly!

So we both win. :)

...I think it's finished.

There are no more beautiful words in the English language.

Rah for conclusion.
