truepenny: artist's rendering of Sidneyia inexpectans (Default)
725 words yesterday. Falling short of my quota.

But it got me out of that abhorrent scene wherein I have been stuck since mid-October. And I strewed my bits of paper* across the floor and figured out what has to happen next. Sort of.

If I can get through this extremely dense tangle of plot, I can start to move into the endgame, where my problems will at least be different. But this tangle of plot is proving to be like bindweed crossed with a hydra. The more I struggle, the more it ensnares me, and the more heads it seems to have.

* This book has gotten so complicated that I can't keep all of it in my head at once. So I have a stash of bits of paper with important plot points and thematic things written on them and periodically I lay them out and figure out which bits fit with which other bits and how that actually translates into what I'm writing. I'd like to have a better system, but mostly I'm just grateful I have a workable one. Even if it does make my feelings of resemblance to Mr Earbrass particularly strong.

But an Edward Gorey quiz.

Also, I find my answer peculiarly apropos.

Which Edward Gorey book are you? )
