fountain pen pr0n
Dec. 29th, 2004 12:30 pmSo something weird has happened to my Sheaffer.
As best I can tell, or describe it, part of the barrel has sheared off, in a perfect circle, just below where the nib screws in. It doesn't affect the action of the pen, per se, but it sure does feel wrong.
So I'm bemoaning this to
matociquala, who pimpstells me about the Fountain Pen Hospital and their Super Specials. I go, I look, I drool all over my keyboard. And come away with a green Waterman Phileas for $25.
It arrived today.
I celebrated by opening the Campo Marzio Burgundy ink that Mirrorthaw's calligrapher-aunt gave me last year. This took some doing, as Campo Marzio seals their ink with cork, sealing wax, and string, but I triumphed over that which would thwart me. Nice ink--a little closer to blood-red than what I'd call burgundy, but that's not necessarily a failing.
And I've written five words with the Phileas, and I'm in love.
FPH also sent their 2005 calender, which for softcore lushness puts most pin-up calendars I've seen to shame. It's astonishing.
