hippopotamus!

The Virtu, Chapter 7: 68 ms pgs., 15,812 wds.
Running total: 350 ms pgs., 80,281 wds.

Not only is there a hill and a hippopotamus, the path is muddy with that particular kind of mud that sucks at your feet like it's practicing to be quicksand.

So very tired.

"Eaten by ghouls" is good.

The Virtu, Chapter 8: 51 ms pgs, 11,559 wds
Running total: 401 ms pgs, 91,840 wds

Today's valuable lesson: Doesn't matter how true it is, doesn't matter how sad you and your protagonist are that the character's dead. As an epitaph, eaten by ghouls is a guaranteed mood-breaker.

[livejournal.com profile] matociquala's talking about point of view. [livejournal.com profile] misia has become a book pusher. And they're both so much more interesting than I am right at the moment it would make your head spin.

reviews of Melusine--yet again

Another underwhelmed review of Mélusine here

otoh, Farah Mendlesohn gave Mélusine a positive (and very lovely) review (sadly not online) in the July Interzone.
