It always makes me cry. When I was writing that last bit, I felt a little like Joan Wilder at the start of Romancing the Stone.

I'm sorry to admit that I haven't read Fudoki (though given all the good things I'm hearing about it, that will likely change). I would, however, like to put in a good word for the last line of _Perdido Street Station_...totally blew me away the first time I read it.
