Because I really do think better when I write things down.

And if I write them down here--as [livejournal.com profile] pegkerr was saying recently--the knowledge that other people know that these are things I ought to be doing just might possibly guilt me into doing them.

It's worth a shot anyway.

So.

On the dissertatorial front, I need to:

1. Clean up the ms as it stands.

2. Go to the library and do more reading. (And look! says Sam. More lembas bread!)

3. Email my committee and ask them to remind me who wanted to see revisions of what.

4. Get the hang of this fucking "critical dialogue" nonsense. [There's a rant that could go here about my committee giving the distinct impression they consider me a left-handed backwards stepchild for not knowing how to do something no one ever bothered to teach me how to do, but I'm not going to waste the energy.]

The fiction side of things ... *sigh*

I really can't let myself work on Kekropia until the dis is done. Because I will only get sulkier and more mulish about working on anything that isn't the novel, and that's not going to help. Working on short stories is at least marginally more acceptable (and if I try to go cold turkey off the fiction writing, things are going to go pear-shaped in a hurry), and I've got a couple half-finished ones right now. One of which is that damned necklace story that keeps rolling up like a hedgehog when I poke at it. But the other one is at least willing to play ball.

*wanders off to do some more writing*
