Yes. V. slow. But this is a scene I absolutely booted the first time through, and it's a scene that needs to be right to convince the two halves of the book to hang together properly. So, on the one hand, I genuinely and legitimately need to think it through carefully, and on the other hand I'm having that must get it right! the scene must be perfect the first time!! anxiety which is such a complete and utter load of crap. But I don't feel like it's gotten away from me yet, so I'm still feeling pretty good about the whole thing.

And I'm still reveling in the freedom from dissertation-guilt which accompanies the writing. It's a new feeling, and I like it.
