Yeah I accept the arguement that it rather wastes the Epic potentialities & the continual longing after the characters after literery imortality is rather under cut by their modern pragmatic bitternees but I think the character Achilles does work tho its got very little to do with Homer's Achilles. A Bitter brooding man who on some leval questions the whole notion of heroic bravery but can't think of anything else to do with his life who comes to care for the slave-girl he abducts and dies for her.
