Two rejection letters in two days.

Bother.

I like it better when they don't come in batches.

Ah, well. I was doing the dance of market-finding anyway. And I am suddenly, irresistably reminded of the Far Side cartoon in which the shaman discovers he's been doing an egg-beater dance.

Better now.

Yes, I do prefer not to be beaten over the head with them. Doing the market-finding dance myself, with lots of stuff out and lots of little butterflies in my tummy.

I have two precisely 500 word short stories, for which I used to have a market that paid a lot. Now I don't, and I can't think what's a sensible thing to do with them. I've actually considered just posting them on my LJ, because heck, instant gratification is worth more than $25 (in a US $ check that would cost me $7 to deposit, plus the cost of mailing stuff to the US, plus an IRC) even were I to sell them at 5 cents a word. I then hesitate over doing that, because one of them is, after all, Cedric the Allosaur.

So, if in your research you see any useful markets for short shorts, let me know. Extra points if they pay in a useful currency, and double extra points if they accept email submissions.

Aw heck, maybe I should just send them to Strange Horizons already.

Maybe you should. *g*

On Spec (http://www.onspec.ca/) is Canadian. And they do short shorts.

If you do sell a story to an American market for a smallish amount, I'd be happy to cash the check for you and send you the cash. You'd still take a hit for converting it to Canadian dollars, or you could save it for your next trip to the U.S., but at least you wouldn't have to pay the $7 fee.
