I appreciate more than I can say knowing that there are people, some of whom are friends, some of whom I've never met, who can understand what we went through and why it was so damn hard.
This, I am coming to believe, is one of the things about the internet for which we should be grateful--perhaps even as a species. That you can go online and find people who share your interests, who care about what you care about, who will say, when you post about what an absolutely godawful rotten day you've had, Dude, that totally sucks. We are not giant pandas; we need interaction with our own kind, and from a sociological point of view, I think it's fascinating that as traditional kinds of community are becoming weaker, this new kind of community is arising in their place.
But mostly I'm just grateful.
