poems for a red cat
Mar. 22nd, 2005 09:13 amFor a while, as a writing exercise, I was writing one haiku a day. The habit died out as I became increasingly gravelled for lack of matter, but in the interim I wrote two haiku about Richie.
Also, this one, which feels almost painfully apropos today, both for me, and for
brisingamen and
peake, and for anyone else who's lost someone they love recently, or is staring such a loss in the face:
In that dream garden
Where memory blooms all night,
Light lamps for your friends.
---
He washes himself,
One leg out, one leg straight up,
Pavlova in fur.
---
Mao!
Small anxiety
Robed in dense apricot fur,
Earnest Communist.

In that dream garden
Where memory blooms all night,
