The height thing wouldn't annoy me so much if it actually got used: if really short or really tall Mary Sues had to deal with the drawbacks of their height. Go house-hunting with a guy who's 6'2", which is not even really tall in my social circles, and you will write more about ducking and less about loftiness. And not in a cute way, either.

I know a few people who appear to have cast themselves as Mary Sues in their own lives past their teen years. "Oh, that's just how I am!" they'll say, blithely listing a dozen reasons you should want to smash their faces in. "I'm just like that!" Not. Charming. At. All.
