seven quirks

Tagged by [livejournal.com profile] matociquala.

1. The yellow face it burns us. I dislike strong sunlight more than almost anything else in the world.

2. I can't handle caffeine. I had to go cold turkey when I was in college, on account of the burgeoning dyspepsia issues, and now when I get into the caffeine by accident (or because I'm driving and need to stay awake), it makes my heart race. Also, it makes me wired like a wired thing, which I'm told is very entertaining.

3. Books are love. Yes, they are.

4. I hold writing implements between my middle and ring fingers. Elementary school teachers tried to train me out of this to absolutely no avail. My handwriting is fairly fast and fairly pretty, but my grip is strange enough that random passersby have been known to comment on it. I have a permanent lump of callus on my ring finger, and one reason I don't use ballpoints much anymore is that I always ended up with the side of my hand blue.

5. My standard jewelry on a day to day basis is eight rings in my ears (5 on the left, 3 on the right), my wedding ring, and my watch. In the summer I have two toe rings and sometimes anklets, depending on mood. My dress-up jewelry adds to those basics (aside from swapping out earrings) my opal mosaic ring and my serpentine ring (both the work of the fabulous Laurie Edison). You can gauge how nervous I am about a social function (a party, a con, whatever) by counting the number of rings I'm wearing. They are my armor, and if it's more than wedding ring, opal, and serpentine, I'm a little anxious. If I'm wearing bracelets, I've got my game face on.

6. I would rather send email than talk on the phone. Hell, I'd rather send letters by pony express than talk on the phone.

7. Given my druthers, I would go barefoot 24/7/365. One of the things that annoys me about living in the Upper Midwest is that I have to wear socks and slippers all winter.

I can't think of seven people to tag (for lo, I am lame). If you're reading this and you want to do this meme, consider yourself tagged by me, okay?

Send me your sun! I love it better than anything. And mine just turned into a red glow along the horizon.

Quirk #4 is true for me, word for word. That's almost freaky.

Heh. Janni grumps the couple months of deepest winter she has to wear socks in the morning and evenings.

I, too, have the callus on my my ring finger. I had one babysitter who wouldn't let me eat lunch one day (she was serving soup, as I recall) because I wouldn't hold my spoon "properly." I learned in college that this is actually a biologically determined trait.
