Since I find that short story ideas and novel ideas are not cross-compatible--that is, turning a short story idea into a novel doesn't work out very well (as for example the two versions of "Flowers for Algernon," one of which is brilliant and one of which is not so much) and likewise for the vice versa--I suspect, yes, I will always write both.
