Would y'all post something? Sweet muscular Jesus, there are people dying of boredom over here!

Ahem. Sorry. The printer, which is about 10 years old, is a fab thing (and has now been labeled "sweet lumpy minion" to honor its dedication), but it is slow. And if some people are stupid enough to write 188,000 word novels, then ... well, I suppose, yes, they do get what they deserve.

Have been whiling away the weary hours by adding to my Interests. V. amused to discover that my top three matches from the Similar Interests search are now [livejournal.com profile] melymbrosia, [livejournal.com profile] papersky, and [livejournal.com profile] cliosfolly. So that works out nicely.

Reply email from agent: novel-in-field rejected by Editor #1. :(

[livejournal.com profile] melymbrosia has this link (from [livejournal.com profile] elynross), which just shows you what some people would do. I'm still speechless.

[livejournal.com profile] renenet is the best. She is a goddess. She brought me, not only a xerox of "Hermits, Fords, and Bridge-Chapels" (Rev. Chas. Kerry, 1892), but also Mummies Made in Egypt, which I was recalling with great fondness somewhere or other. Full bibliographic information, in case anybody wants it for themselves or for a child friend/relation/acquaintance:

Aliki. Mummies Made in Egypt. 1979. New York: HarperCollinsPublishers, n.d. ISBN: 0-06-446011-8

Must now think of something v. nice to do for Renenet in return.

Should be reading Cressy while leviathan-like ms prints. Not actually going to, but I thought I should acknowledge the existence of work I should be doing.

At least you have a feed tray. I once printed out someone's ghastly dissertation that I'd just typed, 20 kwords, double spaced, on a DMP printer we used to have where I had to feed the sheets in individually.

You could try looking at friends-of-friends. And Redbird just posted the most amazing bit of non-English.

Could I borrow a cup of marrow?

I am speechless again. I am so not envying [livejournal.com profile] redbird that job.

I was mostly just letting off steam re: the boredom. What I really should do is get off my ass and go forage for lunch. Right. Or maybe a nap.

You're very welcome for the book. I took unholy glee in doing the gift-on-a-(researched)-whim thing, so, really, you *heart*ing me and calling me a goddess is more than enough v. nice return. Just keep entertaining me by being a morbid little fuck, okay?

I think I can handle that part. I've been documentable as a MLF since the age of ten, and I don't see myself getting over it any time soon.

Still gonna be on the look-out for a return favor, though.
