Novik, Naomi. His Majesty's Dragon. New York: Del Rey-Ballantine Books, 2006.
I devoured this book yesterday like a boa constrictor with an exceptionally tasty rat.
I actually don't have a great deal to say about it. The very beginning was slightly rocky (possibly because I've read too much Forrester and was too aware of the tropes jostling against each other), but once Temeraire was on-stage, I was completely and utterly hooked. Enthralled. Delighted. I read it the way I used to read, before grad school, and I'm grateful to the book for giving me that.

It was an interesting book weekend. The other book I read was Karavans, which was also very good, but very, very different from His Majesty's Dragon.
