Blood & Iron ([livejournal.com profile] matociquala), The Lies of Locke Lamora ([livejournal.com profile] scott_lynch), and The Virtu (me) are all debutantes today.

(You can also, of course, buy from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Borders, or consider supporting the independent bookseller of your choice.)

Also, I have been invited to be on programming at WorldCon and am now seriously contemplating whether I can afford to go.

All in alll, this calls for frog.

Friday before last, I walked into my local library and found copies of both Blood & Iron and The Virtu in the new books area! It was a very Wiscon sort of library trip, since I had gone there to pick up my reserved copy of Geoff Ryman's Was...

Yay! Books!

If you can afford it, you should go. You may as well get what fun you can out of the Campbell nomination. The year I was nominated and lost I went to MilPhil and had a great time, the year I was nominated and won I couldn't afford to go to ConJose and ended up just feeling as if it was all rather distant and insignificant. If you go, you can go to the Hugo Losers Party -- not something one often gets the chance to do.

And I'm saying this entirely unselfishly, because I won't be there.

Oh, and you could help out [livejournal.com profile] elisem too!

Okay, this is the one and only time* I shall go all fan-girly on you (since I've been reading your LJ since before Mélusine came out and didn't know you were actually a, you know, writer). Congratulations, and I adored Mélusine and can't wait to read The Virtu.

Oh, and *slobber* ('cause isn't that what fangirls do?).

Yay book debuts!

I got Blood & Iron and The Virtu in the mail from Amazon yesterday (I think they must have miscalculated their shipping speed a little) and am currently rereading Mélusine, with which I am just as entranced as the first time.

I am incredibly psyched to read The Virtu. Maybe almost as frogged-up as you are! Congrats on the release.

Alas, Amazon is holding out on me on both The Virtu and some other very fine books as well, books by one Scott Lynch and one Elizabeth Bear.

Curse you, Amazon, you tantalizing vixen!

I credit the inclusion of a Sharon Shinn YA for the expedition shown me. Firebird will move rivers to get their books in your hands.

I've put them all on the 'Staff who don't actually have book-buying privileges recommend that the staff who DO have buying privileges buy this book' list at my library. ;)

Woohoo!

Amazon came through for me - all three of those books were waiting on my porch when I got home. (Too late for [livejournal.com profile] matociquala's contest, damn it. Though I do already have a copy of Chains so I can't bitch too much.) Now if only Farthing would arrive.

I'm looking forward to rereading Melusine before diving into The Virtu. Such a lovely book.

I'm not sure this is the correct etiquette or anything, but I just wanted to tell you that I finished The Virtu last night. I was really nervous about reading it, because I loved Melusine so much, and I wasn't sure where it was going. But I thought that, if anything, this book was tighter plot-wise, without sacrificing any of the characterization. And it was really, really beautifully written! Can't wait for the next installment.
