The ultimate problem of Goldhagen's book is the conclusion. What is going on with this generation or the baby boomer generation in Germany? According to Goldhagen, they are a-okay, no antisemitism to be found or any of the negative qualities that their parents and grandparents possessed. Goldhagen neglects the aftermath and how people reacted. Within literally a few years, the climate of centuries that had bred German antisemitism was destroyed. That is so far unlikely as to be simply unfeasible. Goldhagen appears to look at the German people post-WWII with a pair of rose-tinted glasses.
