A question that interests me is, by your definition, is Master and Commander a dick flick? It takes place in an almost totally masculine world, but then it's supposed to, historically. (Though women did serve as crew in a few of O'Brian's books, but it's rare.) The values of the movie are those historically considered the masculine ones. On the other hand, it's not that women are consciously kept our or disparaged (well, by the mores of the time, maybe, but not by the characters specifically). They just aren't there. I'd say that it is, but in a better way. I didn't feel dirty afterward. What do you think?
