I think both movies--Fight Club and Seven--"other" the hell out of women. The difference is that I think Figh Club is aware that it's doing it, if that makes any sense... and there's a way in which that othering--the woman as redeemer, woman as mystery, woman-as-numinous, frankly--is an honest appraisal of a certain (uncomfortable) aspect of male psychology.
It may not be entirely healthy, but I can sort of see its evolutionary purpose. :-P
