Well, words do change their meanings over time, even as little time as 30 years. When the words describe a cultural site that is changing like the dickens, the words will move faster rather than slower. I wisht eh word would split itself up, but the social rules of the usage community are such that lumping tends to be the desired option.

It could be worse. I once had a flamewar over whether muffalettas without olives are still considered muffalettas, or whether the olives are definitional to muffalettadom.
