i'm a college student, and i lurk here because i read your books and i think the things you have to say are interesting and perceptive.
as to the question: how do the folks you know/knew in academia react to your writing fantasy novels? and not settling down and writing more scholarly works? i think it's mad cool, but i can imagine how it would go over with a lot of people at my university...
