Wow. Yeah. That says it all, right there. It's not enough that we love the moon -- that we thrill to the words, and creating characters, and developing worlds, and setting them all up like clockwork toys to become a story -- but that the moon needs to get home. That's what marks the shift between a hobbyist, who scribbles down words and maybe shows them to people or maybe doesn't, but it's okay because it's the act of putting the words down that make him/her happy, and a writer, who understands that loving the moon is not enough. It needs to get home. Wow.
You're right, it's a koan. They're the only things that produce this 2x4 upside the head feeling. :-)
