T-26 and counting

2,132 words.

Where do Felix and Mildmay find these conversations?

o.O

ETA: on the other hand, this is--or should be--one of the great strengths of writing series fantasy. By the time you get to book three or four, your characters should know each other well enough that they can have conversations that deal with subjects other than Saving The World or Star-Crossed Angst.

... okay, yes, if I was writing The Wheel of Time, it would look COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

Isn't that because, if you were writing The Wheel of Time, you'd have finished it about eight books and eighty-four characters ago?

[identity profile] gwynraven.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Of course, the other problem is that by book four, your characters know each other so well they don't need to have such conversations at *all*, just a few random comments and some pointed looks. Which are very hard to write effectively, and might be part of the reason I've never really managed to actually *finish* anything.

I admire your tenacity.

Sigh. I wish she was writing it and had finished it eight books ago. And while she's at it, finishing off Carmody's bloody Obernewtyn series wouldn't be a bad thing either.

The second last Obernewtyn comes out in end of this year. Last one next year. She is very apologetic about it. She wanted one final book, but that would have taken another ten years.

With you on the Wheel of Time. I think it would be fabulous.

Actually, I mostly just meant the gay sex.

I just finished Melusine and WOW! What an incredible book! I can't wait to read Virtu.

Just wanted to pop in and say that. Have a good weekend!

*sporfle* Three-way between Rand, Matt, and Perrin! Whee!

Er. I think I just broke my brain.

Oh, i know.

I heard end of this year too, but Penguin have given me three different dates for the release, and the rep is currently selling for October and it's still not on their sales list. I'm not holding my breath, though i think it'll probably end up on the Christmas release list. It's not the delay i mind so much as her starting about 3 other series in between.

It's going to be so much fun, when the book is out, trying to see if I can spot _which_ conversation made you do anime eyes. =>

Also, since you may not see my Readercon report otherwise, I will be self-centerd and quote myself: "Allow me to mention here that it is not a good thing to have Felix Harrowgate's voice in one's head, when faced with the socially-maladroit comments that are often more prevalent at cons. I did not, however, say any of the things Felix wanted to."

That quote made my entire week better. Which since I have been having a sucky week, is no small thing. Thank you!

You're welcome! Glad it helped.
