When I went to college, I found I was unable to read fiction for several months. Since the freshman work wasn't that much more difficult than senior year of high school, I have no explanation for it other than a change in locale, or being away from my family (which should have affected me *positively*). I couldn't even read Diane Duane! It was very odd, & kind of alarming. What finally happened is I began skimming Robert Jordan, whose books I normally don't like, & after I skimmed about 6 of them, I could read fiction again. I've never figured out what happened.
