TIME: 30 min. DISTANCE 3.2 mi. TOTAL DISTANCE: 68.8 mi. NOTES: Apparently, if I keep my speed at 6.5 mph or lower, I will not have shin splints. o.O SHIRE-RECKONING: Not yet to Buckleberry Ferry.
I should take a look at the Shire Reckoning thing. I'm into week 12 of my training program - I just looked and that means I'll have rowed just about 500 km, which is 320 mi, by this weekend. I wonder if I'm in Mordor yet.
Which leaves me curious: has Project Valkyrie been working for you? The main difference for me is in endurance. Body-wise, I can see more muscle, but the overall weight and size haven't changed.
You haven't even made it to Rivendell. (http://home.insightbb.com/~eowynchallenge/Tools/Bag_end/bag_end.html)

I was beginning to notice some changes vis à vis the flabbiness of my lower stomach, but my body's self sabotage program (i.e., Boring Health Problems) has put that in retrograde. On the other hand, the improvement in muscle tone in my shoulders and arms is distinct and greatly pleasing. All through school, the P.E. teachers said, Girls have less upper body strength than boys, yadda yadda, but they never said, You know, you can do something about that. You may not ever be as strong as a man, but that doesn't mean you can't be strong.
No, I went and looked - I'm about 4 days past Weathertop. I hadn't realized how much distance they covered! I can't imagine hiking twenty or thirty miles in a day, with packs. I've done ten.
Yes, it is a very exciting moment when you're brushing your hair or whatever in front of a mirror and you suddenly notice the contour of muscle that wasn't there before. We even had a weight-lifting unit once in PE but my gym teachers never really knew anything beyond the rules of games - they never taught us how to build strength or flexibility, or how to get better at anything.
