All you need is love.

From [livejournal.com profile] coffeeem:

Copy this sentence into your livejournal if you're in a heterosexual marriage/relationship (or if you think you might be someday), and you don't want it "protected" by the bigots who think that gay marriage hurts it somehow.

Because, yeah. People who love each other being able to get married? This is not a threat. This is NEVER a threat. And it makes me stark barking INSANE with fury that the hatemongers in America can persuade so many people that it is. If you want a threat, people, that's it right there.

Hate is a threat. Not love.

This gay woman thanks you very much.

Thanks for posting this. We're having a heck of a time convincing people that their heterosexual marriages will not be threatened if Prop 8 is defeated. I had a Christian tell me that God invented marriage and it's sacred. I'm an atheist - so is my marriage to my husband somehow invalidated?

A few people seem to be having trouble trying to figure out whether Yes or No on 8 is the protection for gay couples. The answer is No on 8 says No to discrimination.

One of the many reasons why I enjoy reading your journal.

Thank you for this.

Now see, that's ever so much nicer to see than the entirety of Kansas spread across my television proclaiming death and destruction to anyone who is remotely tolerant of gay partnerships. Thank you.

Please do not judge Kansas by the Phelps clan. I'm proud to be a Jayhawk, and I despise them and what they preach, as do many other Kansans I know.

I am very excited to see you support gay marriage. I figured you were at least okay with gays since one of your major characters is homosexual. But it makes me proud to know you stand by us.

Thank you, my dear. My wife--in Massachusetts, New York (for the time being), Connecticut (yay), California (at the moment), Holland, Spain, and Denmark (have I left out anywhere?)--and I thank you. It certainly has shown up on a lot of blogs I follow. But then, it would, wouldn't it?

You seem to have forgotten Soviet Canuckistan. ;)

Do you get recognised in the UK with the "civil partnerships" ruling? I'm British and I believe so, but may be wrong.

This was posted on a yaoi fanfiction site I follow. Like the original poster, I can't believe this is MSNBC.

With people like this feeling so passionate, we can maybe hope that Prop 8 is overturned. A constitution isn't set in stone afterall. As a lucky Canadian, all my best thoughts to everyone fighting to overturn this ridiculous law.
