I just love a good vignette, in whatever medium you name. The best bit in The Golden Compass is the first Tony Makarios vignette, which is sad and creepy and gorgeous.

And the best bit in the Lord of the Rings movies is the vignette where Elrond explains to Arwen just what she's letting herself in for if she sticks with Aragorn. I babble inanely when I try to explain the awesomeness of that bit. It is just MADE of awesome.
