Heh. I suspect that there is something of the "Yorkshire Competition" sketch to the gripe, but it's not the sole thing - there is an issue when you're farming out bits of script like that. On the other hand there's an important difference in that novel-writing isn't a collaborative process in the first place whereas scriptwriting tends to be collaborative from the start...
