There is always either a snowstorm or a football game happening in South Bend, it seems. Both make getting around town tedious. Erasmus books is definitely worth a look--it's a Frank Lloyd Wright house full of books, with a pair of proprieters who live in the shop with their cats. I haven't been in recent years but my Mom still goes when she can. They usually have some sort of interesting rare thing to show off.

The Griffon, which is right downtown (such as there is a downtown), is a mostly-new-books bookstore with a focus on SF/F, classics, and gaming, and is quite wonderful.
