I keep thinking that this kind of thinking is essentially *lazy*; that it's easier to crawl into an inside-out, impossible mythos that's defined to be smooth and circular and self-defending than to grabble with truth that can have awkwardness and reality and absurdity - it's easier to say 'it was a conspiracy' than to try to understand evil that mixes in with other aspects of life, it's easier to say 'God made it all' than to grapple with thinking through mutations and complexities of adaptation and to rigorously remove all anthropomorphic phrasing from your discussion. and if someone has got comfortable with lazy thinking, not only are they not open to being educated, they don't want to because then thinking would be complex and challenging again...
