I have had cats do the same thing with raw unwashed fresh-off-the-sheep fleece. We'd done a large group order of fleece to save on shipping, so there was...a ridiculous amount of Icelandic fleece on my doorstep at one point. Something like 40 lbs. Anyway...
*sees fleece shipping boxes on doorstep (which is right on the driveway) *goes and finds emails from friends with amounts of fleece *draws up list *retrieves kitchen scale and many paper bags from kitchen *opens boxes on driveway *separates out my share of fleece *takes my share of fleece inside and puts it on the living room floor, for eventual relocation to the craft room *goes back outside and separates out the rest of the fleece per the list *puts all the bags in the car for delivery *goes back in the house *discovers both cats buried in the fleece on the living room floor, writhing about in purring ecstasy
