Since you're clearly much better read in the genre than I am, do you notice any major differences between--I hesitate to say "male writers" and "female writers," because, as with other types of confessional narratives that became insanely popular in the 18th & 19th centuries, who the hell knows?--between the stories told by male narrators and female narrators?
