I'll pick up that up, I'm just finishing The Stranger Beside me, and I think I've said it before but I will say it again I love your UBC book reviews, they have become a staple of both my own reading and my gift giving to friends who enjoy true crime.
As regards some of the issues you mention that this author brings up re: domestic violence. Have you seen Patrick Stewarts talk (that came out of a letter he wrote to The Guardian) about how he witnessed his mother's systematic abuse as a child at the hands of his father? It's very a very powerful example of the paradox that traps women in abusive relationships. can be seen here:
