Interview with New Books in Science Fiction & WFC

There's a podcast interview with me here.

Did not win World Fantasy Award, meaning that, at the end of this awards season, my batting average is .250 (1 in 4). Which is not great for a ballplayer, but still above the Mendoza Line.

Thank you to everybody at WFC who took the time to tell me how much you liked The Goblin Emperor. I appreciate it deeply.

Status report

Back from WFC. With con crud. Bleah.

Otherwise I had a lovely time, talked to many people I don't get to see nearly often enough, got some business done, ate excellent food, and kind of had a vacation, including dragging poor [livejournal.com profile] mirrorthaw all over the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium on Sunday (Gorillas! Manatees! Echindas!). I was yawned at by a tiger quoll, a ginormous porcupine, a male lion among his wives, and a flying fox. Also, I preserved my geek cred by insisting on riding on the gorgeous (and gorgeously restored) 1914 carousel.

And I came home to the news that Corambis has been nominated for the 2010 Gaylactic Spectrum Award for Best Novel, so yay! Also, congratulations to all the other nominees!

WFC

I will be at the 36th World Fantasy Convention this coming weekend, arriving sometime Thursday (hopefully in time for [livejournal.com profile] maryrobinette's Fantasy and Puppetry panel) and leaving sometime Monday.

I am not on programming. What with the broken ankle and the narcotics and the unnecessary drama, it did not even cross my mind until much too late. (And honestly, I'm doing thousands of times better, but I'm still not sure panels would have been a good idea.) So if you want to find me . . . well, starting in the bar isn't a bad idea (neither is starting in the dealer's room, amongst the books), and look for the unmanageable blonde hair, as shown in the icon for this post. (My eyes don't glow like that most of the time, I promise.)

ObDisclaimer: I am very near-sighted and very shy, but that doesn't mean I don't want to talk to you! If you'd like to get something signed, I'm more than happy to do so. If you've commented on this blog, feel free to tell me your LJ handle; odds are pretty good (not 100%, but better than 50/50) that I'll recognize it.

thag you bery buch

I have emerged from WFC with a cold. Which is not, in case anyone was wondering, what I needed. So while I would like to make a fun and informative post about the convention, it's not happening. I had a lovely time and very much enjoyed getting to meet, re-meet, and variously hang out with a great many people, including some of you all who I know are reading this.

Also, apparently, if you want to take over the world, the way to start is with brocade Converse.
