Other work accomplished: Read Bussy D'Ambois. Have admitted to self that I must also read The Revenge of Bussy D'Ambois, which may take some hunting. But the two plays form a nice bridge from pre-Hamlet to post-Hamlet (yes, controversy about the dating of Bussy D'Ambois can rage all it likes; to me it looks Elizabethan), which matches up well enough for government work with the transition from Elizabeth to James.
Mirrorthaw read the SF story last night and says, Yes, better, but also kindly pointed out that the first third of the story is nothing but set-up. Oops. And the bedratted thing still needs a title.
Verdict: Progress on many fronts. Huzzah!
And you're stopping because ... ? I really do need to eat lunch.
This afternoon I shall take another swing at the SF story.
