Plus I figured out at least the bare bones of a structure last night. I'm still not sure of all the banners that get hung on the scaffolding, but at least the scaffolding's there, and that makes me feel better.

If it's still raining after lunch, I'm staying home and doing laundry.

I have an odd mental image of a structure made of bones, like those ancient arctic houses built from mammoth bones.

And now I'm thinking of Moby-Dick and that fantabulous description of the whale skeleton.

But a structure of bone is not actually a bad metaphor for me. I like that. It's got that nice organic/constructed dichotomy, plus the morbid.

And now I'm wondering if you could make clockwork out of bone, and what kind of time it would keep if you could.

Needles of bone work pretty well. I think the trickiest bit would be actually making the gears, because working with bone is tough.

Also, the gears might be brittle. Maybe a large-scale clock made from bone would work.

Might be easier to carve delicate bone stuff with modern instruments.

This just made me realize something really important about the Project. Thank you!
