There are disadvantages to having grown up in the 80s, and someday maybe I'll list them, starting with Reagan and ending with blue eyeshadow; one of the ones that comes up with distressing frequency in my day-to-day life is that my idea of comic strips was molded by Bloom County, Calvin and Hobbes, and The Far Side. This means that it is very, very difficult, in the post-Breathed/Watterson/Larson era, to find comic strips that feel like they're worth my time.

9 Chickweed Lane is. It's beautifully drawn, it's very nerdy, it's almost always amusing, and it is on several occasions laugh-out-loud funny. So that's my contribution to Tuesday morning: something fun.

Thanks for the recommendation. Your 80s comic experience was my 80s comic experience, and your observation of how that's ruined us for other comics is spot on, to the extent that I flinched before clicking on this link. But my respect for your well-developed sense of the nerdy and amusing spurred me on. I've been reading the online archive in between other things in the last couple of hours and enjoying it quite a bit, but it may have just captured my heart with the line about "...someone without $2.50 in quarters up his nose and 'The Big Book of Dutch Humor' inextricably tangled in his hair."
