Usually, I write really long chapters and usually I am obsessive about making them match each other in length. This time, I'm consciously letting that go, letting the chapters be short and letting them be of different lengths.
Also, I've got a kind of ring-compositiony thing going with the first five chapters, which are now Part One, which is weird and different and new. I'm kind of psyched, although I'm afraid that in a day or a week or a month it's going to look like the lamest idea since the Edsel. But for now I'm pleased.

Is this explainable?

I don't know where it thinks it's going or if I'm going to be able to sustain it--or if I should even bother to try. But since I'm normally so terrible at structure, I'm mostly just pleased with myself for noticing.
