I heard that line about 20 years ago from a hell of a nice guy named Rick Albertson, who used to be in zine and apa fandom, but seems to have wandered off. It brings back memories.
"We meant 'stronger' here, right?" "What's it say?" "'I'm proud to report that our country is stranger than it was a year ago.'" "That's a typo." "It could go either way."
Unrelated...LJ-user rutemple linked to your 'reading list' policy in her post. It impressed me. I think LiveJournal was somewhat foolish in its terminology - 'friends' gives *quite* the wrong impression. I do have quite a large reading list because I find it invigorating to have so many different perceptions and styles of writing. I do feel that reading others' entries, and writing in my own LJ, has - in some way - improved my writing. People shouldn't take the business of adding and deleting 'friends' to heart although, having said that, I have grown very fond of some of the people on my 'friends' list, to the point where they probably *have* become friends! Anyway, I've added you because I'd like to read your LJ for a while...
