I need to put a moratorium on the word "interesting." Yes, it's "interesting," you daft fool. That's why you're writing about it. Quit telling your readers that everything under the sun is "interesting" and get on with the damn argument.

Is there software that can do that? I would love it, especially for that particular word. Also software that would tell me if I'd used the same word twice in a paragraph plus the ones before and after it.

Well, there's the word processor's "find and replace" feature. That's the best I've ever been able to manage.

*snicker* I was told the exact same thing in graduate school. Curiously enough, I learned at least as much about writing as about my thesis topic during that time.
