The trouble with writer's block is not that I get it, but that, when I do, I always want it to solve itself, without any work on my part.
That's not how it works, sunshine.
It took me two and a half notebook pages of what I described to
matociquala as wandering in circles wringing my hands before I finally worked my way into the right direction and the right starting point. And it was hard, ugly, boring work. But not pointless, because I finally managed to ask the right question. And once I'd asked the right question, the answer was there waiting for me.
And then I wrote 418 words in Chapter 15.
