disengaged
Oct. 31st, 2003 08:00 pmI'm back. I think. Or at least I have something to say.
Dissertation defense is Tuesday, November 4th, 10 a.m. CST.
I'm not nearly as nervous about it as I probably should be.
My dissertation director has been encouraging me to take the first ten minutes to talk about "The Project," and I finally emailed her today to say, No, I have nothing to say and no need to say it. I'm completely unfazed by the balance of power inherent in being in a room with five professors grilling me like St. Thingummy on the gridiron. My own blasé attitude is worrying me a little, but not enough that I feel compelled to work myself into a state over it. I need to convince myself to read over the dissertation again this weekend, so that I have some vague idea of what I actually said, but I'm not sure I can be bothered.
I'm over this fucking thing.
In other news, I'll have a flash piece, "Queen of Swords," up at AlienSkin for the month of November, and "Sidhe Tigers" (which if you put a knife to my throat, I'd call a prose poem) will be appearing in Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet 13.
Sidhe Tigers, the necklace, is the work of
elisem. Give her a round of applause, Gentle Readers. She's brilliant.
