(Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lisajulie for post title.)

The manuscript is at the copy-shop. Of course, the one time when I'm actually anxious about getting the copies done is the one time when they can't just slap them in a copier and go. Sometime this afternoon, the woman said. argh.

But. Have emailed committee, all five of them, to let them know the dis is coming. New conference date is November 4th at 10 a.m. And there is honestly and totally nothing more that I can do at the moment. Except fret. I'm good at fretting.

Shall go now and try to find something to distract myself with.

Don't fret, do something happy. Reread Watership Down.

Strange how distractions evaporate when one no longer needs to procrastinate.

I've only posted to your LJ once or twice, but I've been reading your journal, following along as you progressed though the diss. As someone who's been through it, I have to say that you really got it done fast once you made the decision to finish. I'm impressed! I'd love to read it, too.

Congratulations! I wish you all the best of luck with your committee.

Thank you very much.

The getting it done fast thing ... It was very strange: like a switch flipping in my head in the middle of the night. Suddenly, I wanted to be done with the dissertation more than I wanted not to work on it. I wish I could pretend that had happened consciously, or was something over which I had any control, but nope.

Good luck with distractions!

Last night I found a book in Morrowind that began with a scene in the "Least Loved Porcupine Tavern".
