Wash's trick to outrun the Reavers and achieve escape velocity all in one go. That was fucking brilliant. On Wash's part, yes, but also on the way it was acted and directed. I'm not a hard sf kind of gal, but I love watching people make gadgetry work (okay, yes, I also had an archetypal schoolgirl crush on MacGyver), and the shots of Serenity's engines doing whatever the fuck it is they did were just beautiful. And I now love Wash. I love that we get the chance to see just exactly how brilliantly amazing he is at what he does. And I think now we know why Zoe loves him; not just because he's an amiable doof, witty, charming, and clearly willing to walk through molten lava for her, but because when the chips are down, he gets that tone in his voice and can make Serenity dance like an angel.

I loved that part, too. Although I was LMFAO at my Hunt for Red October associations with "pulling a Crazy Ivan." That maneuver was great for the Wash love and also for the Serenity love. "Here's something you can't do." Love that Firefly class transport! "That's my girl. That's my good girl." Oh, and the teamwork. Very shiny.
