So I'm poking around on bartleby.com looking for inspiration towards a title for this thing I'm working on that's maybe a novel, and I found this Chinese proverb:

One dragon may breed nine different offspring.

No idea what, if anything, it means, but I like it.

So what you're saying is that dragons are like rosebushes.

Could be. I'm sure there's a story in that idea somewhere. Or a really good illustration.

Rosebushes, apples and dragons...

Hmmm.

There *is* a story there.

Oh, that I like.

The Nine Children of the Dragon, each utterly unlike all the others, hidden among the populace at random. That I could do something with.

Hooray!

I was hoping if I posted it, it would spark something for somebody.

I wonder if that's an actual way in to the idea I've been half-heartedly kicking about for ages that came up in a discussion (http://www.livejournal.com/users/stakebait/171494.html) on [livejournal.com profile] stakebait's journal jsut the other day ?

Not now. Am in the middle of too many things already.

It means that an action can have all sorts of unexpected outcomes, not just the one you expect, surely?

Given that a dragon is an action, sure.

It would be interesting to write/read something about dragons that were verbs instead of nouns.
