Christmas holidays. Two days with each set of relatives.

Got Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix from Mirrorthaw's mother, which is a plus because it means I don't have to buy it myself. Read it and found myself somewhat dissatisfied. Will post about that later.

Wrote 3,685 words, which is astonishingly good considering the travel and family and all.

But I broke the nib of my fountain pen (clumsy people should probably not have beautiful writing instruments). One way or another, I can get the nib replaced, but it's still annoying. I like that pen.

But the ultimate upside is that when we got back this afternoon, my contract was waiting for me. It is impressively thick.

Am now going to take self and cramped, unhappy back muscles off to bed.

When I got my first book contract I had the flu, and a temperature of 103. I tried to read the contract anyway. I don't advise this, nor in fact reading it under any kind of impairment. You're better prepared than I was, since you've sold some short fiction. But still.
